Restoration of a WORST desk!

This desk was made around 1920-1930. Decades later somebody tried to refinish it, but they stopped in half way. So now it was my turn to make it nice again.

  1. For some silly reason I always giggle when you show hand sanding in fast motion! It looks so satisfyingly fast and the sound is very funny.

  4. I agree with you, Ahti, that the stain is too dark. But you did what the client wanted. Overall it is so much better! Excellent work as usual.

What are the door handles made of? Are they bakelite?

  5. I love Art Deco pieces. I also prefer the medium to dark stains. This fest looks wonderful. Bravo.

  6. This desk is totally unique now. It is perfect. It might sound silly, but I often get sentimental feelings when I'm watching a piece of yours that is really special. And I got that feeling while watching this. Somebody loved this desk and put a lot of love and work to, and into, this old man. I thank you for standing him high and proud again. I like to think it 's going to stay in the same family and perhaps be used and loved again there. Thank you for allowing us to watch as you bring this beautiful piece of history back for us to enjoy. Best wishes.
