Restoring a 100 year old family heirloom #PlatinumRing

Stella’s 100-year-old heirloom ring, passed down from her great aunt, had seen better days. The shank was cracked, worn thin, and the beads holding the diamonds were flattened. To bring this sentimental treasure back to life I carefully replaced the damaged shank with platinum from my scrap collection, soldering it on with precision to avoid scorching the diamonds. After rebuilding the prongs with my laser welder and reshaping them with a beading tool I blended the new shank into the ring and polished it to a brilliant shine. Stella’s reaction made every step worth it.

  1. Not me crying at a 30 second clip on YouTube. Now that ring can be passed down another century. Fab work !!

  2. Love ur channel. But those subtitles are so small impossible to read. Think of us getting old people hahaha.

  3. Sentimentally I would've liked to have seen the worn out thin shank melted down with added platinum and then remade into a new one. Though I guess that would've made it much more expensive

  4. "platinum scrap collection" 💀 i never skip your videos, thank you for the gifts you guve others!

  5. Great work – love to see pieces restored to be worn rather than the stones being reset into something modern.

  6. That’s a very durable metal. Took a long time to wear that thin.. I’ve seen that wear after 20 years of use with other metals

  7. I'm crying. It's beautiful. Before my grandmother died, she took all her old jewelry and divided it out to her grandkids. I'm the oldest grandchild, so l was getting the most sentimental pieces. She had them all in boxes for us and someone broke into her house and robbed all of the pieces. The only thing that wasn't robbed was her emerald engagement ring. She gave that to my cousin, Donna who had the only other May birthday besides my grandmother. Very sad. I wish l had one of her pieces all these years later.😢
