  1. Literally some restaurants do this all the time for salads, not all restaurants and not all salads, but some. She isn’t wrong here, it’s just not as common for home cooks.

  2. So is there a better more efficient way to do this because sixty seconds of running water is a lot of wasted water… That is gallons for some of us at that point

  3. I wanna put the shallot but i dont want the taste…wtf is she/he talking about? Why do u even put it in the salad anyway? The salad look better with it?

  4. "How to make food taste more bland" would be a better title for this video.

Excuse me while I bite into my raw onion as if it were an apple.

  5. imagine epicurious removing comments poiting to different epicurios vids , good job.

  6. Even leftist chefs make no sense what is the world turning into ????????????

  7. Lol no if I'm putting shallot or onion is because I want to taste it. Get a grip.

  8. Bunch of idiots here in the comments. Yeah, she certainly just rinsed off the shallot flavor, so it must be ruined. Cook more

  9. JUST WTF! that's why don't trust white people when it comes to this type of things

  10. Why are comments so negative? Rinsing onions and shallots in the water is a common way to take onion’s spiciness away when eating it raw. You could also reduce the spiciness by putting some vinegar in too
