Safety Lock Down Clamp for Drill Press – Locks Down Anywhere in 1 sec

https://paskmakes.com/the-marking-knife/

I had this idea a couple of months ago and I’ve been itching to get at it.

I’m super pleased with it as it works exactly how I hoped it would and makes the drill press a safer machine. It’s quick and easy to set which I reckon makes it a winner. If something is easy to use then it will get used.

Hopefully it inspires you to make one for yourself. If you do, there would be many ways to do it, not just by machining. You could fabricate one or even make one out of wood.

As always I’m happy to answer any questions.

  2. Nice clamp. I would have clamped them together with some shim stock before milling it so you wouldn’t have to go back and shave some off for clamping.

  3. Excellent work ???????????? . Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself ????????

  4. It might be a good idea to do a coloured anodise finish on the aluminium? No too difficult and would protect this beauty.

  5. Just brilliant in everyway. The video, narration and final usefulness of this. Wildly great. Greetings from a cabinetmaker in California.

  6. For those of us without metalworking machinery, we just have keep using fences, hold-downs and vises with bolts. Only morons try to hold a workpiece with their fingers.

  7. There are several problem solving steps that can be used by all that watch this build. Thanks for sharing. Jere

  8. Having seen this. I dont understand how this isnt just a product thatcomes with or could be baught separately from/with a drillpress. It just seems so logical and simple.

  9. Very neat and elegant setup. I use a locking clamp myself, and your solution is much better.

  10. Why don't you remove the ball and throw a center in that super sweet tap wrench? Face it till the ball falls out and slam her with a center drill.
