Stunning Fine Furniture from 2x4s! This even blew my mind!

Making a modern decorative cabinet using cheap 2x4s from the home center. Brought to us by Squarespace. For 10% off your first purchase, go to: http://squarespace.com/makesomething

I wanted to try something different and challenge myself and see if I could use cheap 2x4s from the home center and make a stunning piece of fine furniture. Even though I was pretty picky when selecting these 2x4s they still had their flaws. None were perfectly straight or flat, and even the best ones still had ugly knots to work around. I went into this woodworking project confident that this cabinet would come out pretty good but I had no idea it would come out as good as it did. I was blown away by the results and nobody in a million years would guess this cabinet was made from the cheapest wood you can get.

  1. Did you actually finish it because how much you love it or did you just get it "camera finished"?

  2. I can't watch your videos on double speed because the music is just so good. ????????

  3. 2×4 fine furniture, love it. I love all your work, very interesting and entertaining. However, isn't the point of showing that you can make fine furniture with 2×4 material so you can do it low cost?! (and not something other than walnut as you say the project is in response to), but then you go and use a domino, laser cutter & CNC?!!!!! Now I'm not a domino, laser cutter or CNC hater (they are actually on my wish list), but seems slightly against the point of the project to me. Just my thoughts.

  4. Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there today. ????

  5. So…when can I purchase the plans to make this on my own? Also would LOVE to buy the plans for sliding cross cut accessory for your saw! All great videos!!!

  6. Why am I watching woodworking from someone who doesn't like woodworking in general??? What a laugh 🙂

  7. Is this for sale? My grandmother says she loves it. Reminds her of her childhood.

  8. I did some web design early on and I knew about optical center but didn't know the name for it. I just knew centered things looked a bit better just a bit above true center. Like the Apple logo when you boot a Mac. Now I know!

  9. I dig the Marshall combo amp. Thats a flex to me and my Fender and Peavy combos.

  10. It looks awesome, and shows that expensive, exotic hardwoods are not needed to make cool stuff (but honestly, they kinda help, lol). I have to say, though, that by using the Festool Domino you missed an opportunity to drill some holes, pound some pegs! ????
