Why Sugar in Soda Is Way Worse Than Sugar in Fruit
Not all sugars are created equal.
Here’s what you need to know:
1 can of soda = 9 teaspoons of sugar
Imagine someone handing you a glass with just 9 teaspoons of sugar and water.
You’d never drink it — yet that’s exactly what’s in most sodas.
What makes it worse?
That sugar is added sugar = empty calories.
It spikes your blood sugar fast, with zero nutrients to back it up.
Fruit is different:
A ripe mango may be sweet, but…
✔️ It has dietary fiber
✔️ Packed with vitamin C and carotenoids
✔️ Slows down sugar absorption
✔️ Offers anti-cancer benefits
So no, you shouldn’t go overboard with fruit…
But ditch the cookies, cakes, and candies — they overload your metabolism and offer nothing in return.
Bottom line:
Enjoy fruit in moderation.
Skip added sugar whenever you can.
Your body (and metabolism) will thank you.

Old saying "the quantity makes the poison"
My brother can drink multiple 2liter sodas everyday . meanwhile I drink water and tea and I'm the one in the hospital with stomach problems 🤦♂️ 😂
A bottle of wine has 1/2 pound of sugar in it
I can't believe people still drink calories. There are so many options…. I understand diet soda isn't good either, but unsweetened teas, water, sports drinks, water, WATER.
" 😐 . He said '…don't want to be eating too many fruits….'. 😐 .".
You nail it. I don't need to add anything more to what you have explained. Your explanation is very accurate 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
I pretty much never drink normal soda, just club soda. Every now and then when I go out to eat, I’ll order one instead of tea, and I usually regret it cuz it tastes SO sweet once you cut it out for even a short bit.
So what reaction does fructose have in the body?
is it actually cane sugar or the horrible syrup?
I just started eating healthy 1 month ago.
I used CoPilot, for free, to help me figure it all out.
I eat like a King in a Fine Dining Restaurant, all the time prepared with whole food ingredients and kefir and Greek yogurt, soy, mustard (and some part-skim ricotta – want to transition to nutritional yeast) – stuff like that is the only 'processed' foods I use. My proteins are chicken, shrimp, fatty-fish (omega-3s), eggs, and tofu (learning). I target BP, Diabetes, Kidney, and Liver health and my veggies are beets, beet juice, bok choy, brocc, baby kale, spinach, garlic, ginger, peanuts, almonds, pistachios, onion, cilantro, tomato, zucc, cuke, carrot, chard, and radishes, flax, tumeric. Fruits include strawberry, blueberry, bananas, an occasional apple, and an occasional orange. I eat lime and lemon all the time on food and in tea. For the first time in my adult life, I am learning how to eat correctly – not just diet. And I think it's sustainable – we shall see.
Ok and ….
Some people don’t sugar coffee or tea 😂😂😂
But drink coke or Pepsi 😈😈😈 and still alive and get walks

Yes, those of us who come from Hawai'i love mango. However, once a mango has been irradiated to ship to the mainland, all the nutrients have been nuked out of the fruit. As much as I love eating mango, papaya, or pineapple from home, I'm not eating irradiated fruit while living in the mainland.
😂😮😮😮😮
This should be common knowledge but society is being dumbed down.
so if i take a multivitamin with my can of soda, it's no longer empty calories?
Who is still drinking full fat soda in 2025? That's just a crazy waste of calories
Very hard find soda with sugar in it. It’s always HFCS which is far worse than sugar.
We consume five times as much sugar than China with five times the 5 * population of the United States. No wonder we're dying in droves
i never knew the problem of sugar was we had too much of it and he taught me what empty calories mean – this mean is a verifiable genius and should win a nobel prize, he is just simply so smart, it's amazing, insights no one has heard before ever
