This 1400 sq.ft Compact Home in Bengaluru Has Ample Greenery

The Nest House is located in a residential area of Bangalore with roads on two sides, north and west, making it a corner plot. A tree in the juncture of the corner led to the idea of a curvature to break the rigidity of the corner plot and create dynamism in the spaces inside.

A striking feature of the house is a double height courtyard on the east, nestled well within the curvature. This space is wrapped in steel fabrication that creates an interesting play light and shadow throughout the day.

The facade is a neat composition of cement finish, fabrication, and mud plaster. The use of local red soil to achieve this gives a reddish orange tinge adding warmth to the elevation. While the north side permits light and ventilation, the western side has minimum openings to protect the interiors from harsh western sunlight. Due to this, there are no fans or air conditioners installed on the first floor of the house.

An open floor plan, monotone colour palette, mud plastered walls, and ample greenery inside are some key highlights of the project. The architects walk through the house, giving an insight into various details and materials and how they designed this compact house without compromising on natural light and spatial comfort.

  1. My plot is only 50 Gaj. Unfortunately for me, i can't hire such architects & engineers due to limited financial backing. Hopefully, i will be able to make something good out of plot as well in the near future. Middle Class families have limitations of their own. But i do want to leave something behind for my family.

  2. No Pooja room ?
And what about insects from the plants ? Is there any solution to it

  3. Beautiful house. Love the greenery and the style quotient of the building and the feeling of openness. Structurally looks very nice and contemporary and stylish. However the interior of the house looks much to be desired especially the furniture. The bedroom wardrobe looks like a major let down. Looks like a completely different team did the woodwork and another team did everything else – there's no continuity.
Also the large cooking island becoming a dining area might help if you want to have a quick breakfast. But wouldn't be convenient when you are hosting guests or when the kitchen is cluttered. Looks self defeating in a way. The rest of the house especially the greenery is stand out amazing❤

  4. Indians are the most artistic and creative people plz upload more and more of these compact space projects as i am my self a small design and property business owner with great love from Pakistan to all our Indian creative and beloved brothers

  5. The name on the house is written in kannada and it translates to love or affection.

  6. Best thing to do when the plot size is small is, make a cellar in ground floor and have main floors in first and second.
It would be spacious. My personal experience. I didn't think it through.

  7. I love these compact space projects, this shows the true talent of an architect. Thumbs up for the beautiful design.
