Hi Nick, love the video. As I am quite allergic to wool, my equivalent (natural fiber, timeless design) would be silk, but it is so very expensive. I guess you could say I have silk taste on a cotton budget. Other, often less expensive, alternatives are linen, hemp, or the new softened bamboo fibers. There are a ton of really beautiful, timeless, linen throws on Etsy. They're not super cheap (the ones I love are around $140) but the silk one I covet is $100 more than the linen. Just a thought for the other people like me who crave timeless, natural, fibers for the home, but are allergic to wool.
i love books for all your reasons AND that you can read them! i like your channel.
Maybe you got caught up in the mustard trend ❤
This is 100% my video! I have everything on here. Only problem is my beagle puppy loves to chew on my wool rug. ????
"Maybe you got caught up in the mustard trend" ???? I lost it
I don't agree with rugs being a must almost all the time. In a house with dogs, to me, rugs are a big no no and practicality wins. I have 2 large dogs, and though they don't do their stuff indoors, I wish I could have beautiful oversized tile everywhere. Timeless and beautiful.
I love all of your suggestions-they truly are timeless and will always enhance the beauty and comfort of any space.
Candels on the books? Books as decor? Only in the US hahaha
First off: I love your common sense coupled with impeccable taste, Nick. You know what the trends are, but you value the timeless, as you say (I agree). Thank you.
Every single item you referred to holds a special place in my heart as it’s all inherited, and I am sentimental ( possibly, too much). On top of that, my brother and I were raised all over the world so my parents picked up lovely things everywhere. We’ve had to curate painstakingly because there’s just so much you can keep. We’ve given some things to family and friends, as a solution.
My main issue is that I am a minimalist who also loves maximalism (as my dad did; not so much my mom!) so I struggle with the two. Weird, I know, but I guess I usually go with the minimalism because of the upkeep (dusting, polishing, etc.)!
I killed my snake plant!???? (after 4 years ????)
Nick. You have so hit home with me with this post. I ABSOLUTELY agree with everything you have said. You and I don’t always agree. Most of the time yes. On this occasion, we are one the same page with everything. Thank you. I always take on board trends but like fashion, not every fashion is going to flatter everyone. Not every trend will flatter my home, my life and my family life and my style.
I'm into kitties and cats 🙂
Nick, I'd love for you to do a video on how you could incorporate pop culture/geek/gaming personality into a space without it looking cheesy! I just thought about it again when you mentioned coffee table books; game art books are just STUNNING for this! Personally, I like going to artists alley at conventions and finding unique prints that maybe don't scream "I'm from this major IP!" 🙂
I have shifted into vintage and I feel like there furniture is really well built!! I have allot of my grandma things I got from my gran when she passed and a lamp my grandad made as a child and I love it
Overwatering will kill a snakeplant. Love your channel❤️
If you buy handmade plates, appreciate them. They’re hard to make. I took a bunch of ceramics classes in college and I only attempted one small plate. Cups and bowls are easier to make and more likely to survive the kiln
Love love love these ideas!! I honestly love a few newer design trends, but I’m such a classic at heart. If it can’t last 20 years in my home, I’m not interested.
Loved this video, Nick! Useful information presented in a relatable and entertaining way.
Nick im dying for you to make a video about comtempory style, the really modern, sometimes monochrome "fancy" interior you see in luxury homes. i think its beautiful but sometimes leans a little cold yet im so drawn to it, but then it feels like anything that isnt luxe clashes and its hard to make it feel unique?
This is the most relatable decor video I've ever watched. While I find some trendy pieces attractive, I'm not one to keep up with the trends. I don't have time or want to invest in that. I've slowly been getting my home together. Books are life and the bathrooms are the only rooms without them (so far). I've thrifted a gorgeous Bloomingdale buffet, and add touches of sentimental pieces. Thanks for this great video!
