Traditional Family Home Gets Much Needed Open-Concept Remodel | Love It or List It | HGTV

Michael and Natalie bought their home in a rush, and after painting, putting on an addition, and living in it for a while, Natalie is still bothered by too many functional issues. She operates an art print and stationery business out of the house, so she would like a dedicated office space with storage. Michael loves the home’s traditional aspects, large yard and short commute to his job. Designer Hilary Farr attempts to make the house work better for Natalie so that she can finally love living there, while realtor David Visentin works on finding the couple a new home that they can both get excited about.

When a house no longer feels like home, homeowners are left with a big financial and emotional question: renovate or sell it? Love It or List It helps fed-up homeowners decide. In each hour-long episode Realtor David Visentin and designer Hilary Farr compete for the homeowners’ final decision to stay or go. David’s insider perspective on the real estate market helps target listings to prospective buyers, but Hilary is determined to show homeowners that, within their budget, she can transform their worn-out house into a castle they can love. If the owners decide to list it, Hilary’s hard work adds to the home’s resale value. It’s a tough decision either way. Which choice would you make?

  1. I'm sorry, did she say the children will mess with her office stuff if on the 2nd floor? I'm a middle-aged woman and I know better to mess with my mother's office to this day. It's called teaching your children about boundaries.

  2. What an awful woman. Does she ever smile? Their house needed work, OK, but it wasn’t that bad. There are a lot of people in this world who would love to have what she has.

  3. A major issue is that they have children who are being allowed to be messy in the public spaces.

  4. Get “your” crap together! You create the mess by not disciplining your kids.

  5. Don't get me started on this woman. She's self-serving and disorganized. Even before the redo, more organization would've made the house function much better. Hillary did an outstanding job. I'm actually a little shocked that she liked it. She doesn't seem to like much of anything.

  6. I made it less than 3 min & was like I can’t watch anymore… what an entitled human… bigger does not always squeal better, get ride of stuff, parent your kids better & be happy with what you have.

  7. Put that man in his house for months without the lady moving a finger and see how he looses his mind within the first few days. 2 kids, 3 dogs and no office space to accommodate her business with things all over the place….phew I feel for her????‍????

  8. And what does the wife do other than spread her office stuff all around the house ????

  9. Hold on, this is a big house. Time to reevaluate your priorities and have folks clean up after themselves. A bigger house will be just as cluttered and not be perfect either.

  10. Surprised that they kept it. Wife seems like nothing makes her happy. Feel kind of sorry for the husband. He appears to be a genuinely nice guy.
