It’s an honor to me that so many people watch my channel, and I benefit from knowledge shared from the audience quite frequently. Thank you everybody! And thank you all for your support!

  1. It's an honor to have you fine people watching my channel, and I benefit from knowledge you share quite frequently. I learned some VERY IMPORTANT things in my recent boom rebuild saga, and I just had to share it with everybody so we can all learn. Cheers everybody! Thank you all for your support!

  2. I was a fireman at a suburban volunteer fire brigade 30 years ago (I was no volunteer, in Germany you could be a fireman instead of going to the military then). We – three young men – were at the fire station working on a firetruck when someone came in yelling "Theres a car starting to burn in the parking lot over there!" So we jumped into the VW minibus of the fire brigade, drove to the parking lot and there really was a car smoking out of the engine compartment.

Our minibus was equipped with two 6kg powder extinguishers. I took one of them out, ran to the smoldering car, pushed the button – nothing happened.

Luckily the second extinguisher was operable, so I could suppress the fire from escaping out of the engine compartment. So I was able to save the car and the other cars standing nearby.
But actually: We had a non working extinguisher in a fire brigade car! The extinguishers were maintenanced by full-time firemen from the central fire station in the city center. Someone didn't do his job right there, because the failing extinguisher had a "refilled and tested"-badge that wasn't expired. I learned: One fire extinguisher is good, two are better. It's good to have a plan b if somethings on fire.

  3. Another thing to consider is a bucket full of water with a couple burlap bags in the water all the time . As growing up on a farm every tractor in the nonfreezing months of the year .
We always had gasoline in metal oil drain pan's for parts cleaning . That's was the only good parts cleaning fluid at that time . So now most older people know how old I am ?
We always had a metal bucket just outside the shop door . Dad would be welding or cutting with a carbon arch and every so often a spark would find it way to the cleaning pan even though it may have been far enough away ?
A continuous bucket full of water with burlap bag can beat down grass fires for hours without even catching on fire and reusable almost forever as well as very cheap .

  4. Thank you for sharing what you learned about fire extinguishers! All of mine need some persuasion from a rubber mallet to break up the mass inside.

  5. 47/23; Fire Extinguishers…yes…as much welding, Plasma, electrical & wood cutting (burning) that you do on YT, yes…having several of those dry chemical (Ansil? Dust) types shows how safety aware you are…& for good/recent reason. Always a great presentation on your channel! Stay safe & carry on John!✅️????????????????????????????

  6. Hiya John you could of put a seal ???? on the
End of your extinguisher ????, I’ve been waiting
Along time to use the ???? joke sorry ????????????????????

  7. If you have fired a powder extinguisher, the valve will not be totally airtight, because r
There is powder on the valve seats , it would leak out slowly, you can pause and start again in the short term but , always recharge them after use!

  8. Fuse able Link. AKA C.S.C.G Corporate Service Call Generator. First Gen Dodge owners love them.

  9. I all most lost my shop from a outside fire and now its been all most 3 years and I am on top of all this fire safety now I was like you until a fire bracks out then you relive how importen fire safty is and how it can save things. that night when I seen that fire outside by my shop if I was set up for it I could of put the fire out but with out having taking fire safty for rell and had a trash pump set up I could of bet the fire truck but I was unpapard for it. but for now on I will no longer tack fire as a jock. I lost a lot in my shop and still have not got back on my feet yet

  10. Nice job on fire extinguisher safety class. Don’t forget to PASS on the fire.

  11. My guess was 1998! Boom lift series was great especially since it was winter. There's a problem with having TV in the shop on a cold winter's day.

  12. Ugh, you really need to read and use NFPA 10 Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers.

  13. Very much enjoyed this video as it addresses much of the "stuff" we normally take for granted – and shouldn't. Thanks Jon!

  14. "Don´t do the disposables"….if we did that to MANYYYY things, we would be better. Thinking about batteries, water bottles, chopsticks, clothing, etc.

Had a fire in my house a few years ago and since then I check extinguishers yearly by a professional.
