Will Empty Nesters Move Downtown or Renovate their Suburban Family Home? | Love It or List It | HGTV

Todd and Robyn are ready to get what they want in a house now that their children have grown up and moved out. Todd wants a lot of space for entertaining and hosting their kids when they visit, whereas Robyn is convinced that their future is in a new place downtown within walking distance of all their favorite haunts. Designer Hilary Farr finds creative ways to inject new life into this playful couple’s home while real estate agent David Visentin heads downtown to find them a perfect place closer to the action.

When a house no longer feels like home, homeowners are left with a big financial and emotional question: renovate or sell it? Love It or List It helps fed-up homeowners decide. In each hour-long episode Realtor David Visentin and designer Hilary Farr compete for the homeowners’ final decision to stay or go. David’s insider perspective on the real estate market helps target listings to prospective buyers, but Hilary is determined to show homeowners that, within their budget, she can transform their worn-out house into a castle they can love. If the owners decide to list it, Hilary’s hard work adds to the home’s resale value. It’s a tough decision either way. Which choice would you make?

  1. Walking into the dining room isn't something I would want. As big as this house is, there had to be a better place for it. Very bad feng shui.

  2. Just started watching. The clothes are ridiculous…who wears that many clothes purge.. eager to see the finished product.

  3. WHY was the office added as another room when there were so many bedrooms ripe to be repurposed?!

  4. Wife seems like a very disagreeable person. Feel sorry for the husband empty nesting with her. Also decreasing the budget by 20K was a real d*ck move.

  5. I love the yellow house but also the job Hillary did for such a smal budget of 65 thousand dollars, including hardwood floors.
