An Animated History of Transportation

Ever since the first hominids left Africa, human beings have been on the move. The canoe was invented in 8,000 B.C. and the first form of public transportation was a stagecoach operated in Paris in 1662. Fast forward to today’s self-driving car prototype, and it’s clear just how far we’ve come.

The diesel truck was not invented in the 1890's… the diesel ENGINE was. You have to go well into the 20th century for the first vehicles actually powered by diesel.

I like the animation style and fun soundtrack and really wanted to love this. But…. Transportation didn't start with the steamship in the 1800s! How about things like walking, canoes and rafts, horses, sailing ships, barges pulled along canals, rickshaws? Plenty of things before mechanized transportation and beyond European nations. Also time for an update that adds space-efficient transportation like skateboards, foot scooters, and electric bikes. I had to laugh when I saw self-driving car in 2009 if you meant to list things that actually began functioning for people in the year shown. The monster truck driving over another vehicle isn't transportation, it's destruction.
