Spicy Black Bean Burger

makes 5 veggie burgers / 30 min

2 Tbs olive oil
1 large potato diced
1 tsp rosemary died
1 tsp thyme died
1/2 tsp sage died
1 to 3 Tbs chipotle powder
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp pepper
1 cup onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic grated
1 1/2 cups black beans
1 half poblano pepper diced
1/4 cup vegan cheese shreds i.e. Daiya Shreds OPTIONAL
2 Tbs brown sugar
2/3 to 1 cup vegan breadcrumbs
ยฝ cup flour
2 Tbs canola oil
1 tomato sliced
lettuce for topping

1. Heat olive oil in frying pan on medium heat. Add potato, rosemary, thyme, sage, chipotle powder, sea salt and pepper. Fry for about 5 min. Add onion, garlic and poblano pepper and stir for 5 to 10 min. Don’t let the potatoes get too brown. Remove from heat and transfer to mixing bowl. Add black beans and let mixture cool down.
2. Add vegan cheese and brown sugar to the mixing bowl and mash everything together with your hands. Mix in breadcrumbs until you have a firm consistency.
3. Form mixture into 3 inch diameter patties that are about ยพ of an inch thick.
4. Heat canola oil on medium heat in frying pan. Coat veggie patties in flour and place in frying pan. Cook each side for about 5 min. or until they are nicely browned.
5. Serve on bun, lettuce, tomato and choice of condiments.

  1. By chance is there any way you can do a video on other vegan burger recipes

  2. Literally just bought a burger press to shape these bad boy burgers up! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ”

  3. The memories! I remember watching these videos when I was curious about being vegan. I was with a vehemently anti-vegan/anti-veg partner at the time, so it was impossible to make any of your recipes without him shutting me down. Iโ€™m so happy to say years later Iโ€™m fully vegan and have a vegan partner! Yay. Thank you vegan zombie. You planted the seeds of curiosity in the hearts of many and made a difference.

  4. JON TEDD should be in front of a movie camera…he is SO awesome! CHRIS too!

  5. Made these tonight, with a few slight modifications, as I'm not full apocalypse ready, and can't quite handle the hot hot spice. Man, this was the black bean burger recipe I've been after for a while now. Super tender yet not all nasty and mushy inside. Super satisfied.

  6. About to go to bed after I finish this big vegan meal. My dreams ought to be interesting after watching this.

  7. You opened my appetite with that burger and as the same time killed it with the last scene ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  8. This is my go to black bean burger recipe!! In fact, the kids won't even let me make any others!! They absolutely love these burgers!!

  9. Such an amazing video. Iโ€™m going to make these burgers without the oil๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ And I canโ€™t wait!!!!!!

  10. This is a very creative way to be vegan. And who don't like zombies ๐Ÿ’€

  11. Is it possible to double the recipe to make it into a meatloaf? And must i put the hot stuff in it?

  12. I lost my phone and my old YouTube channel. I was subscribed and watched you all the time. That was 3 years ago and now here I am we meet again๐Ÿ‘พ btw I was vegan for 8 months but then I jumped out a moving truck going 45 rolled in the grass by a seafood restaurant and punched a tree broke my hand walked to the nearest strip club and got drunk and some naked lady ordered me prime rib I ate it and went back to the dark side. Now I'm vegan again and I will stay vegan until I die of smog poisoning or get eaten by a zombie.

  13. Great effects at the end! Loved it!!! Came for the comedy and was on the edge of my seat at the end!!!
