Tbh I need to stop shooting low, even in friendships bc there are so many people in my life who have tried to tear me down. They saw my worth and my power before I even did. I like to have this non-judgmental approach to allowing people in my life (I think it’s the Christian in me), but it really hasn’t worked in my favor. Time to start being choosy and choosing people who I know are on my level mentally, physically, and emotionally. No more insecure people in my life 🙅🏾‍♀️

I had an emotional/verbal abusive ex. My whole demeanor changed due to him. It has been a few years, but i felt like my whole world was flipped upside down. I was so happy and chilled until that black hole of a man stepped into my life. I later realized he did this same BS to another woman from his past. it was hard to deal with on my own, living abroad, and in a new country. Had to hear, oh no one else will want you because you're weird. I was told i was pathetic as well. I seriously thought that maybe because of my eccentricities i was the problem. Later i learned the term gaslighting, and that abuse can be emotional as well. But since then, I've found it hard to trust others 😕

This happens with girls too. I got an 100% on a hard A&P exam and i told my sister in law, in which she was like "great, can you believe i used to get 104% on exams". Like really? is it hard for you to be happy for me instead of trying to act better than me. Anyways, I ended up getting a 100.68% in the class, and she called me a genius 😂😂 ya bishhh!

Some of these people that say that kind of stuff just want to bring you down. I was reading about something called the cycle of power and control and it is extremely abusive. This guy sounds like a a total narc. And it never gets better. Just worst. Narcissistic Personality can be extremely dangerous and leave devastating emotional scars. Your friend needs to get away from this toxic person asap.

Bottom line, if he doesn’t build you up (and you aren’t compelled to build him up): drop him!! Boy bye.

Thankfully, I was born with a mental/emotional and at times physical abuser as a father (such a paradoxical statement, I know lol), and I'm an INFJ, so I learned very young what to look out for and how to weed out those sorts people. I know the tactics people use and it's just natural for me to quickly identify red flags, so I don't deal with those sorts of guys. My mom said that as a kid, I would point out things that my mom didn't even realize my dad was doing to her. So, at least I learned very early in life lol
