You are using the wrong teqnicue for this mascara. You have to use wiggling motions on this mascara and coat thoroughly.
I have naturally long lashes and same experience…to clumpy… And I didn't like it at all …so it sucks lol in a nutshell

I found that this particular mascara does not work well when you curl your lashes first . This is coming from a girl with thin lashes. 😘🙈
