DiY Fashion – How To Sew Fabric Bows

This is a quick and easy step by step tutorial for how to sew a fabric bow. You can turn your bow into a clip / barrette for your hair or a pin / brooch for clothing, bags, etc.

Once you learn the basic process, you can use your imagination to make layered bows in different fabrics or add embellishments like sequins or beads to really make your new accessories stand out.

Tip: For larger bows, you might find that reinforcing the fabric with fusible interfacing helps the bow keep its shape.

  1. Can you use this technique with sequin fabric? Sequin fabric is so flimsy, don't know if this would work

  2. This is a great video and I actually made a few bows because of this video and some online instructions. But I have a question how do you glue an alligator clip to a homemade hair bow? I have hair bows that I bought at Comic Con and there isn't any glue holding the bow and alligator clip together and yet the clip doesn't slide off the bow.
