  1. Marta and her followers: one of my favorite (though now defunct) bands, Floozy, wrote and recorded a song inspired by this video. It’s on their second album, “His Name is Fabio.” Fabio is her little dog, seen in this video! You can hear (and buy) the song & the album on iTunes, CDBaby and other online outlets.

  2. Good job, watch those sharp edges, and gentle on that belt.
    Good job!

  3. Old video, but wanted to comment and say thanks for it.

Also, you solidified my decision to buy a new machine vs. repairing my old one.

  5. The only problem I have with your video….Trust me good video….But you don't tell what kind of glue to use for the seal…So what kind?

  6. Good info. Leave the boot on the drum. Much easier to attach it to the washer front, which you removed anyway, than to the front of the drum. You don't show how fun it is to get the basket shaft out of the old bearings or how to seat the shaft back into the new bearings. 🙂

  7. By the way Frigidaire made this lovely piece of engineering  sold under the Kenmore name.

  8. Watched this and was a little surprised there was one of the four shipping bolts still attached to the drum. The yellow piece . I hope you did not reinstall it . Could be what took out your strut or caused the bearing failure. The only mistakes I saw was removing the drive belt , less likely to cause damage if removed from the larger pulley. Also the horizontal axis boot can stay in place on the front half of the tub.  TAKE OUT THE SHIPPING BOLT.  Ric, Quicksilver Appliance.

  9. Thanks for the video, it inspired me to try to fix my model. Unfortunately the failure on mine was a fatigue crack in the mounting bracket on the back of the drum and given the $350 part cost on this 11 year old washer it's now headed for the recycling bin.

  12. Marta, I don't care about the negative things, some rather catty, that have been said about your video; I THINK YOU'RE GREAT!!!  And the proof is your machine runs great.  If I were 40 years younger, I'd ask you to marry me.  DO MORE VIDEOS.

  13. I keep thinking "I'll never to THAT again," but comments like yours make it all worth it. 🙂

  14. Excellent video, the tips like taping things out of the way was most helpful.

  15. Which part was it, and where did you end up ordering it from? I think I need a bearing and shell, but not finding it anywhere. Plus 240 bucks where I did find it (out of stock). 🙁

  16. You see, I did leave all the parts in the order I took them out. But that filled the kitchen island and then the hallway, and since I had to leave everything until the unexpected new part arrived, well… sis got tired of the mess and reorganized my neat rows, and THAT my friends is one thing you don't want to happen. : )

  17. I am amazed! I have the same washer, and called a Sears repair guy in, who said I need a bearing shell, and possibly a basket (which he said has a lifetime warranty, so should come for free). Thing is, it's in a really small space, and has a dryer sitting on top of it. Watching this, I'm thinking I'd be getting myself into quite a pickle if I try to do this on my own. I kinda wish you had left the parts in where you actually removed the parts. Nonetheless, amazed!
