Starting your own garden from seeds is an easy and inexpensive way to grow vegetables and flowers. Lowe’s shows you how to start seeds indoors.
First, add seed starting mix to peat pots. You can also use a seed starting flat or you can reuse old yogurt cups or egg cartons. Seed-starting mix is formulated to help build strong roots fast.
Second, use a pencil to make a hole half an inch deep in each peat pot. Then, drop one seed in each hole. Cover each seed slightly with soil.Water each seed. Be sure to water gently to avoid washing away the seeds.
Finally, set the peat pots near a light source. Keep the temperature between 70-85 degrees to give the seeds the best chance to germinate. After the danger of frost outdoors has passed, you can break the peat pots apart and plant them directly in the ground. The peat pot dissolves underground.

Very nice!!! I guess a remaining question might be…..just how many weeks should I start seeds inside before spring?
Billy peet Moss
Thank you. I know this is how to do it but I lack the confidence to try. After watching your video I think Iโll give it a try. Thanks again
William Moss is the best person at explaining how to start a garden since Flora Thorn.
Another way of watering the soil in the peat pot trays to avoid washing away the seeds is using a spray bottle. Just putting that out there.
I just saw a video where the potting soil containing nutrients never from your ground outside because it wonโt work as well is the key and to put this potting soil from the bag into some sort of container where you can pre-moisten it and make it be sort of like crumbly brownie mix and then you put it into the Pete pot. This way thereโs no chance of overwatering it in the first place.
Thanks!!!!!
Very efficient and self explanatory video. Thanks for posting. ๐๐โ

Thank you for๏ปฟ the positive feedback! Yes you can use egg cartons as well as long as they are cardboard. – Lowes
Great guy and thumbs up for the video it's informative and easy to follow
I also would like the answer to YurBoyLeo's question about using egg cartons instaed of that tray
Great video..I used it to grow TickleMe Plant seeds- my kids and students favorite as this is the only plant in the world that lowers its branches and closes its leaves when tickled. We use egg shells as pots and get our tickleme plant seeds on line
Should put more than one seed like 2-3 in case not all of them germinate in one cell. Pre-soak dirt is good also so you don't need to water and risk dislocate seeds when start.
He really makes gardening easy. Thxs ๐

Is it possible to substitute an egg carton for the tray thing
your place looks fantastic ๐
I always wet the soil first make sure its wet before you plant that prevents the seed from floating up and out… I also use clear plastic bottles in April make sure you leave the top on cut it almost off but leave a little for the hinge tape the seed packet to the bottle and vola an instant mini green house place in window plant are ready to plant outside come summer…
i like very much to gardening…………..

I looked this up to grow weed lmao It works
You might want to put the peat pots in alum.foil cake pans and filling them with luke warm water, that way they get saturated, works for me! I use some old magazine racks that I got for free and use them as kind of a mini green house.
This guy just cheers me up!!!!
danm it i thought this vid was for weed
I remember my sister had sprouting seedlings for her gardening, and she had put them in the oven when we came over to babysit, the oven wasn't on at the time, but later we desided to cook some food and didn't know the plants were in the oven, so we cranked the heat up to let it preheat. Later we opened the oven and found them sitting there. We were scared we baked them. xD But they somehow survived. ๐
