Looks great ????????
My knees are killing me watching you. My wife and I did 3500 sqft in our house over 25 years ago. My knees never recovered fully. Really stellar work Matt.
I am sure your frustrated with the defects caused by that milling machine, but once its all done, filled ,sanded and finished those memories will disappear! great work! good wood choice too!
Looks great. You notice any tiny imperfection but most people won't see them unless you point it out. And Luke a guy I worked with years ago used to say " in a 100 years nobody will notice". You are doing a great job cut yourself some slack.
"The fast ones will never see the imperfections and the slow ones will not care."
Having layered many floors of all descriptions and materials I can’t recommend highly enough getting the best pair of knee pads you can afford.
From watching you cut these flooring pieces, to selecting the ones you wanted to use for this large combo rooms. Then the milling with your new machine has been pure excitement for you Matt. But the actual laying of the floor, and how careful you are with each piece, is pure enjoyment. Your love of this White Oak is seen with every selection. Sorry there is more imperfections on some pieces, but you fix it and now you are almost there. Amazingly beautiful. Your work is phenomenal. Thanks for showing us all.????
I'm sure being in the same room with your flooring is exciting, try the same thing with a comb, less your excitement, just consider it fulfilling a social contract.
This was very captivating. Thank you for all the details!
Matt…in years to come you and the rest of your family won't even notice these silly, slight imperfections in the layout (due to the machining process)…at first, it stands out like a chapel hat peg (very prominent) but, with time everything fades into obscurity !
Wow! What a job.
Ok, the floor looks amazing… but you can't go sporting a black sweatshirt like that without a link the description…
Did I miss them? Limited time only?? If so, I'm gonna be sad. Don't make me sad, Matt. ????
I started out doing floors with my dad 100 years ago, this video is giving me ptsd. Looks like it's going to be a great looking floor.
20:26 Looks at the R851 bucket: “R581, okay, whatever!” That’s the spirit.
At times, you had sunshine hitting parts of the floor. Did that affect the working time for the adhesive?
Looking good Matt! ???????????????????? …. I think that even if there were absolutely zero imperfections, you'd still be putting the floor down through the entire video anyway….. ????
did you domino the ends together? It looked like it.
How much of the curves and bows could be caused by the acclimation? Could it have settled and twisted a little whilst it was in the house?
58:30 -ish "…we covered a lot of ground here…." ISWYDT 😉
Don't tell me that you are still having snow in Minnesota!!!????????…there's something wrong with that picture outside the windows ????
Hope you purchased a bunch of buckets of mastic. Looks very thick.
Knee Pads Matt …when your 65-70 you'll say thanks..but I'll be dead !!
I REMEMBER WHEN YOU AND DONAVON WOULD JOKE ABOUT A QUARTER OF A INCH OFF HERE OR TERE AS IF IT WAS NO PROBLEM!!!.I AM GLAD THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HIDE THAT DIFFERENCE BEHIND THE FURNITURE AND KEEP THE SEAMS IN THE FLOOR STRAIGHT ???? ????????
How exciting!
37:00 -ish the flooring when glued down and nailed down is *spectacular*!! Love it!
I appreciate the explanation of the advantages of using glue.
I'm not sure if it's worth the extra work, but I bet it will last forever.
Maybe run the wood through the machine again? When I mill wood I do it in 3 stages, with about a week in between each. The wood has a chance to move, and settle.
Sure have been busy since the last video. Great job in not getting glue all over the top of the floor.
