Inside Ina Garten's Kitchen | Ina's Favorite Things | NYT Cooking

It’s the Barefoot Contessa herself, Ina Garten! Follow along as she gives us a tour of her East Hampton, N.Y. kitchen (a.k.a. her office). What are Ina’s favorite things? Handy spoons, butcher blocks, three types of salt and — wait for it — a jar of homemade vanilla extract that she’s been adding to for 35 years. That’s dedication.

To make vanilla extract at home, fill a jar with vanilla beans and vodka, let sit for four to six months, “and you’ve got vanilla extract forever.”

  1. Ina has a very refined, expensive yet simple taste in what she uses both to showcase and cook the food. Those antique spoons are by Hotel brand and they sell for $95 for two. Not to mention that all her white plates, bowls, bakers, and platters are French-made porcelain by Pillivuyt which is pricey as hell. She always cooks in Le Creuset and All-Clad which really is the best of the best.

  2. Ina: "Was that alright?" No Ina, it was perfect. Exactly what we all needed in a tough moment. ❤

  3. This lady id not "just like us" as people post here. How many of us have a 48" Viking range and hood AND a Viking cook top? How many of us have a second house on their property just for cooking? How many of us vacation in Paris every year? How many of us live in the Hampton's? How many of you are wearing your solid gold $30,000 Rolex watch right now? Come on man!

  4. My 10 year old nephew has cancer and was filling out his wish list.We talked with 2 other parents whose children had wished to come and cook privately with Ina.She declined both. How sad to have so much and be unwilling to put a little joy in the life of a dying child.Keep your money and your kitchen tips ina.✋

  5. She says she has things anyone can have. Yea I see that nice professional range. We all could have it it our incomes were in her range.

  6. I got vanilla beans and vodka from Costco to make vanilla extract. Will last a long time and smells wonderful.

  7. You are one of my favorite people. Watch you every Saturday morning. I was born and Raised in New York. I’m no longer there but I feel like I am when I’m watching your show. Thanks so much for sharing
