Today we find out how much firewood is in one big oak round and what it’s worth when turned into bundle firewood. We use the Splitfire4209 Log Splitter on the Excavator and the Wolfe Ridge Pro 28C to finish it off

We live in Western Pa. and Have around 100 Acres of Land, About 1/2 is ours the rest is my moms, We have 4 kids and two grandchildren, 3 Golden Retrievers and one Cat. We enjoy working on our property and making improvements. We sell firewood and soon will be selling hardwood lumber.
It surely is amazing what you can do when you know how to do something. You make me want to work! Great job!
Great video Mike
Great video Mike! Selling bundles is a great side hustle. I’m going on my 5th year on my roadside stand. Selling them near a busy campground. I sold 1400 bundles from May to October.
Awesome splits on the big rounds
Enjoy your work!
So im honestly asking and not trying to bust balls here. Ive the opportunity to do something long this line also. So 84 $ for an hrs work, i see that part. Where i dont have info is what was fuel consumption for the machines which split it, the maintenance cost for them based on "run hrs", cost of hauling the bundles to resale, the cost of getting the 32 in to that size(felling tree, initial cuts of tree) . Maybe im wrong but all this eats into the 84$. So any information you can share w me would be of great assistance in my business plan. Tks.
What would happen if you tried to do “a crosscut” on that splitter?
Great video!
Mike before you lay down all that crushed stone on your yard consider laying down a geo textile fabric. It will keep your stone from sinking into the slurry of fines in less than five years. Good luck
Hey Mike, thanks for the cost evaluation, but where do you ammoritise all the beautiful equipment you are so fortunate to have? A guy with a maul and wedge will have far different basis.
The 2legger meant to say CHEWSTIX but he can't read the teleprompter.
The worth, real honest to dog value, who can measure the value of a Canine-American smile?
Lets see if he can juggle 3 mismatched ChewstiX! Archie Power
I believe you’ve figured out that new splitter!
Enjoying the videos Mike…….Thanks!!!!!
You could make a lot more money with a lot less work selling those 30 inch plus.logs cut up as slabs. Here in Texas a 30 inch wide slab goes for eighty dollars a board foot.
They are worth $8 per bundle in central Mass. There are 7 or 8 pieces of nice seasoned hardwood.
$7 a bundle for hardwood firewood is a great deal. Around where I'm at they sell bundles for $5 and its usually pine or fir.
Is this bundle wood have to dry? I live in California so I may be overpriced but I would think a bundle of that nice of wood would be easily worth nine to ten dollars.
Hello Hunter, from the Pacific Northwest, 50 miles, North of Seattle. My 4 legged son Samson the white Pitbull, with the black-eye, say's woof, woof, woofer's. That means hello. Hunter your dad makes great video's, but I guess you know that already. Hope your having some fun with the snow. take care, and good-bye for now.
Mike, what was the stain that you used on the wood shed?
Take the tag off of that machine Minnie Pearl 😉
$84. bux an hour aint bad at all.
I really like the way it splits the wood in both directions…. oh yea we got our shirts we really like them very comfortable and warm.
What if you added 4 or 5 pieces of kindling to each bundle for a easy start. Most people are not heating the home just for recreational fires.
I think you've got a good start on your firewood for the year. I'm sure there's several logs at the neighbors still yet. BTW, that's alot of wood from one round.
In a previous video, you mentioned about the splitter on the excavator being opposite of the control, control left splitter right, control right splitter left. Reverse the hydraulic lines will take care of this and it will be a quick fix.
Pretty nice JAG of wood there out of that one big round!! 👍
"Come on, Dad. Quit telling everybody that I'm the most picky eater!!" — Daughter Eva 😜
What’s the status of all the wood at the neighbors, you were getting some saw logs and firewood 🪵 from just curious. I haven’t heard it mentioned in awhile.
Hi it’s Ken from Crewe Cheshire England, hi Mike could you let us know how the pond is after all the rain and snow you have had, did you manage to put in the spillway you wanted ? how are Eva and Hunter hope they are both ok. Take care all have a day
Awesome video
That was a cool shot having the camera following the wood into the splitter.
