4 Levels of Meatloaf: Amateur to Food Scientist | Epicurious

We challenged chefs of three different skill levels – amateur Emily, home cook Lorenzo, and professional chef Chris Scott from the Institute of Culinary Education – to make us their favorite meatloaf recipe. Once each of them had presented their take on this family pleasing classic, we asked food scientist Rose to weigh-in on their choices. So what do you think, want to try them all? Even two out of three ain’t bad when it comes to meatloaf.

  1. I'm all about Emily's meatloaf on this one. Mostly because it was the only one that was kosher but also because it looked delicious.

  2. Oh my god I can't stand Lorenzo he is the most annoying person in the whole roster

  3. How come Emily’s the amertuer version of the meatloaf was the only one that looked like meatloaf what what’s going on here do we not know how to make a simple meal it’s hamburger meat and ketchup and I guess onions.

  4. Since when we’re there three levels of meatloaf mroe important why I thought it was just meatloaf what who why just why.

  5. Lvl 0 chef. Minched meat, packet of Macaroni mix and some ketchup as glaze. Put into a caketin, bake for an hour/half and done ????

  6. Watching this is why I won't even order meatloaf in a restaurant. I am partial to mine. When you add too many veggies……it's no longer a MEAT loaf. It's a veggie loaf. I keep it simple. Italian bread crumbs, egg, onion powder, ton of garlic powder and my secret weapon……..A-1 sauce. Hold the ketchup. A lot of A-1 sauce. In it and on top of it. 375 for 50-60 depending on the size. Done.

  7. I have 3 meatloaf mixes I make depending on time of year and what's on sale.

  8. "Don't be weird about it!" Wise words, Emily! You and Lorenzo are my favorites.
