A Rugged SAPPHIRE Covered Smartphone? – Durability Test!

We don’t take sapphire claims lightly around these parts. When Kyocera announced their DuraForce Pro 2, with a full sapphire covered display and back camera. I knew i had to get my hands on one. Is Kyocera using real sapphire crystal to protect the display? or did they use the same Apple Junk Sapphire that’s found on the iPhones and iPads? The only way to find out is with a durability test. We’ll start by taking the Kyocera Duraforce Pro 2 and put it through a scratch, burn, and bend test.

Do you think all phones should start using Sapphire? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Hello, Jerry. I am a fan and wanted to ask for a favour.
I was hoping you would do a durability test on a samsung watch 5 pro. It has sapphire display and titanium case. I was mostly wondering if the button on the watch are also titanium.
I couldnt find your email but i hope you ll se this.

  2. I do love my Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2. It has lasted me for many years, unlike previous phones I've owned.

  3. Tons of bad reviews online. Buyer beware. Also a lot of reconditioned being sold as new.

  4. I have a reason for the burn test. I currently have burnt pixels on my a32 5g because it fell out of my pocket while mowing grass and fell on face down on the blade belt. The friction burned the pixels.

  5. I have had my pro 2 since 2019. My only issue is one that has just now shown up. After 3 years of abuse the screen is delaminating. I can see the bubble around the screen.

  6. 7. I get nervous with the way he pulls down that box cutter when scrapping down the sides. Always looks like he's going to launch the blade into this thumb the moment the plastic gives way.

  8. That's insane how it didn't scratch until 8. I have to say I'm a fan of your videos. At 1st I thought "what a waste of money", but it's actually very interesting to see just how durable phones are these days. I'm curious the most durable phone you've ever tested.

  9. My tiny Android 3 Kyrocera that I had in 2013 was built like a brick shithouse. You could throw that thing at home run speed into a cinder block wall and it would just damage the wall. It wasn't even advertised as a rugged phone or anything.

  10. Looks like HTC and Kyocera are the only guys who are ever going to be willing to spend the extra bags on sapphire glass.
