Might be more effective to leave the charges in the canisters and rig them up so the mousetrap flingback bulls the string out, the casing builds pressure making it louder
I like your general concept, BUT what about waterproofing this item? Maybe it could be sprayed with Scotch guard or something else, but if it gets wet I think it will fail. It could be backed up with a bell struck by the bale at some point.
