I Put a Black Wallpaper on My Phone, And It Was the Right Decision

I Put a Black Wallpaper on My Phone, And It Was the Right Decision

So, how to make your smartphone battery last longer? Let’s see. What is your phone’s wallpaper right now? You might want to change it to a shade of black if saving time and money sounds like a good deal. But this trick only works on one screen type though, and here’s why.

There are two popular types of smartphone screens at the moment: LCD and AMOLED. LCD means Liquid Crystal Display. Whenever the phone is active, it lights up every pixel you see, no matter what color it is. AMOLED is mostly used in newer smartphones. It generates its own light and doesn’t need back lighting. But if you don’t have an OLED screen and you want to save your battery, there are some battery-saving tips that will work for most phones.

Dog Life Hacks That’ll Change Your Life

Dog Life Hacks That’ll Change Your Life

In this video, we’ll look at 23 dog life hacks for dog owners to help give your pup better life and make things easier on you.

Prevent chewing
If your pup chews your furniture or cables, spray them with bitter apple. The smell and taste of bitter apple discourage dogs from chewing them.
Freshen their Breath
Parsley is a well-known remedy for bad breath—for both people and dogs. It gets rid of the nasty bacteria that causes bad breath.
If you add a little parsley to your dog’s food, it could help to combat stinky dog mouth.
Brushing their Teeth
If your dog is reluctant to do their dental diligence, squeeze some doggie toothpaste onto your pup’s favorite rope or chew toy. This will help to rub the toothpaste on your dog’s teeth and keep their mouth clean and healthy without the hassle of having to brush it yourself.
Eliminate Urine Stains and Odors
Baking soda naturally neutralizes odors. If your dog has peed on carpet, simply sprinkle some baking soda or even an old urine stain, and then vacuum it up to remove the smell or stain completely.
Chicken Popsicle
On hot summer days, you can keep your dog cool and treat them with a healthy and tasty summer treat. Simple fill up an ice cube tray with beef or chicken stock and let your dog enjoy a nice frozen treat.
Your Sign
Print a list of foods that dogs shouldn’t eat. It’s an excellent reminder and comes in handy when you have a dog sitter.
Protecting their paws
Exposure to winter’s cold and chilly rain, sleet and snow can cause chapped paws and flaking skin. Winter walks can also become dangerous if chemicals from de-icing agents are licked off of bare paws.
Booties help minimize contact with painful salt crystals, and massaging petroleum jelly or Vaseline into paw pads before going outside helps to protect them from salt and chemical agents.
Digging Box
You can keep your garden safe by designating certain areas for digging, or teaching your dog to use their very own digging box.
Shower Cap
Water and soap can irritate a dog’s sensitive ears and eyes. Use a shower cap to keep them protected during the bath time.
Pool party
Many dogs love swimming or hanging out in a doggy pool. Fill an inflatable pool with cool water on hot summer days and stock it with some fun toys.
Music
Classical music can help us relax and decrease our stress levels, but recent studies have shown that certain classical music soothes your pet too. Playing music reduces stress in dogs, lowers their respiratory rates and reduces barking. If your dog barks excessively, or is anxious, use music to calm them down.
Easy hair removal
To remove doggy hair from your carpet or sofa, simply put a pair of rubber gloves on and dampen them. Rub the gloves back and forth on your upholstery. This will cause the hair to ball up, and then you can remove the hair in one simple clump.
You can also use a window squeegee to remove dog hair from your couch, carpet, and car seats.
Force a Dog Throw Up
If your dog has eaten something harmful that they shouldn’t have, like raisins or chocolate, use hydrogen peroxide to make them throw up.
Easy tick removal
Apart from using tweezers, you can apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball, and cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball. Then swab it for a few seconds. The tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.
Downhill Fetch
If it takes a lot to tire your dog out, you can play a game of downhill fetch. Throw the ball down the hill and your dog runs down and back up to retrieve it.
Say goodbye to fleas
Dawn soap breaks down fleas’ exoskeletons, killing them almost instantly. Give your dog a Dawn dish soap bath if they have fleas.
You can also spray apple cider vinegar on your dog’s coat to get rid of fleas. The odor of apple cider vinegar makes dogs less attractive to fleas.
Thunderstorms
In a thunderstorm, it is likely that your pup is more afraid of the weird static building up in their coat than the bright lightnings and loud thunders. Use a dryer sheet to get rid of static electricity in your dog’s coat.
Dog’s scratching post
If you don’t want to trim your dog’s nails, attach sandpaper to a piece of wood and teach your dog to trim their own nails.
Fast Eating Dog
Does your dog scarf down their food too often?
Unfortunately, eating too quickly isn’t good for digestion as it can cause choking, gagging, and vomiting.
The good way to slow down the eating is to put a tennis ball in their food bowl. As silly as it may sound, the tennis ball will force your dog to move it constantly to get to the food; therefore, slowing down their meal time.
Play Hurt
Instead of chasing your dog when they get loose, lie down and pretend to be injured. Your dog will run back to make sure you’re okay.
Pillow case bed covers
Use pillowcases to cover your pup’s beds and mats. That way, you can just slip the pillow case off and wash it.

10 Workout Mistakes That Prevent Weight Loss

10 Workout Mistakes That Prevent Weight Loss

If you want a slim body, you have to do a lot of cardio, right? This misconception is extremely popular among those who want to lose weight. However, not many people know that cardio can actually turn into a fat trap. Not only can aerobic exercises prevent you from losing fat but they can also make you gain extra pounds!

For example, when you regularly do the same exercise, your body gets better at this activity. As a result, it doesn’t need to put in as much effort as before, so you don’t spend as much energy as you used to and, thus, don’t burn enough calories. The best thing you can do in this case is diversify your workouts. To learn which other cardio mistakes you should avoid, watch our new video!

TIMESTAMPS:
You focus on cardio rather than strength training 0:58
You try to stay in your “fat-burning” zone 2:19
You do cardio on an empty stomach 3:41
You think you can eat whatever you want if you do enough cardio 5:10
Your training sessions are always the same 6:39
You do too much cardio 7:43
You use light weights while doing cardio 8:56
You don’t do enough cardio 9:41
You do cardio only in the morning 10:26
You do your cardio and only after that do you hit the weights 11:03

#cardioworkout #cardiomistakes #weightloss

Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/

SUMMARY:
– If you want to become slimmer, strength training works better. First of all, such workouts build up lean muscle mass, and this decreases fat stores and boosts your metabolism.
– You burn many more calories during and after high-intensity workouts. This is because the fat-burning effect of such exercises can last for up to 24 hours. As a result, this makes you lose fat much faster.
– The muscles you use to do cardio exercises do depend heavily on carbs and fats to get energy. But contrary to what many people believe, your body won’t get this energy from fat stores in your belly or hips.
– If you eat a lot and then train a lot, you can exhaust your body and overtrain. Consequently, you may suffer from burnout and injuries, your immune system will get weaker, and your sleep will become less restful.
– Cortisol negatively influences your hunger-regulating hormones. This makes you feel hungry, and the worst thing about this is that you feel starved not only during your workout session but long after you finish it as well.
– Light weights don’t make much difference when you use them during your cardio session. They are too insignificant to strengthen your muscles, and they don’t help you burn more calories.
– Many people believe they can get slim by training for half an hour 3 times a week. However, that’s not enough to become fit. By doing such workouts, you only stay moderately active.
– If you feel that morning workouts aren’t for you since, instead of feeling energized, you become tired and unhappy, do them when it feels best for you.
– If you start your workout with an intense cardio session, you might not have enough strength left for effective strength training.

13 Habits That Probably Stop You from Losing Weight

13 Habits That Probably Stop You from Losing Weight

In case all your attempts to get the perfect body fail, it’s not a reason to give up completely on your weight-loss goals. Check if you’re guilty of the following habits that will sabotage any diet and exercise plan.
Diets are just temporary measures you take to lose some extra weight, so you shouldn’t rely fully on them. Give yourself some time to get used to one new healthy habit at a time, and then keep going.
According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, a good night’s rest helps you cut down on fats, carbs, and sugars. Lack of sleep, on the contrary, makes you eat way more than usual. Experts recommend taking small bites, chewing your food thoroughly, and practicing mindful eating. It means fully concentrating on your food, savoring its smell, taste, and even texture.
Desserts won’t hurt your weight loss plan at all, so anyone with a sweet tooth can now rejoice! Of course, moderation is key here, but if you stick to a “nothing-allowed” diet, you’re actually more prone to overeating.
A food diary will be your greatest ally on the road to weight loss. If all that writing sounds too tedious for you, you can simply take pictures to see exactly what you’ve been putting in your body.

Music: Staccato
https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music

TIMESTAMPS
You’re convinced that going on a diet will help you lose weight. 0:41
You’re into dressings and sauces. 1:35
You punish yourself for eating “prohibited” foods. 2:25
You’re afraid of being hungry. 3:22
You stick to juices and smoothies. 4:15
You underestimate the power of sleep. 5:06
You eat fast. 5:47
You go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. 6:30
You give up desserts completely. 7:22
You think fats are the enemy. 8:02
You rely too much on exercise. 8:45
You don’t keep a food diary. 9:28
You strive for perfection. 10:12

SUMMARY
-The only way to lose and keep off unwanted pounds is to change your lifestyle. Make it a habit to always have breakfast, move more, and choose the right restaurants.
-Dipping veggies into a sauce, even a healthy one, can significantly ruin your diet. Add those calories to your food diary and don’t forget to count them in your daily allotted intake.
-If you punish yourself every time you eat something “wrong”, you risk falling into a habit of eating in response to your failure and gaining all the weight back.
-Being hungry stimulates cell renewal, improves digestion, and even regulates your blood sugar. Plus, when you’re hungry, your body produces ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates your memory and helps fight depression.
-An orange will, in fact, satisfy your hunger longer than a glass of juice will. As for healthy smoothies, one glass actually contains anywhere from 150 to 300 calories.
-If you want to shed excess weight, you’d better take an 8-hour journey to dreamland each night.
-If you eat faster than you should, you take in more calories than you need before you realize it’s time to stop.
-Have a meal or a healthy snack before going to the grocery store and don’t forget your shopping list. Otherwise, you’ll end up buying more high-calorie foods than low-calorie ones.
-You can allot only 20% of your daily calorie intake to satisfying your sweet tooth and still lose weight.
-Stick to unsaturated fats, such as olive oil, nuts, seeds, fish and avocados, instead of avoiding fats altogether.
-Physical activity burns only 10 to 30% of your energy. The rest depends on your diet, so that should be the main focus of your weight loss plan.
-Writing down everything that goes in your body keeps you aware of your portion sizes, food preferences, and meal and snack timing.
-Being too strict with yourself only encourages emotional eating, which leads to a vicious cycle. It’s totally fine if you’re not 100% perfect in following your diet plan.

Combining their rings & saving the scuffs to preserve his memory

Heather had me combine the elements of her ring into her late husband’s wedding band so she could wear it as a necklace. She asked me not to remove the scuffs and scratches from his ring as those represented their whole life together. Each little mark a reminder of the life he lived and now she gets to keep those memories close to her heart.

StoreMore DayBed

StoreMore DayBed

You can build this bed yourself with some simple tools and a little time. Wanna see what’s at the ‘core’ of this daybed project? Find project details here: http://low.es/1MUm8nr

Hollow-core doors! They’re an inexpensive, versatile material to use so let’s step through the build.

The daybed is basically two doors that ‘sandwich’ some dividers creating these great little storage cubbies.

Check out the detailed directions first, then get started by applying the edging pieces to the doors – make sure that the edging is flush with one face of the door — then glue and nail those in place.

Put one of the doors on your work surface with the side that isn’t flush – the ‘offset’ side – facing up. Bring in one of the end-boards and mark this point right here — where you’ll need to remove a little material in order for the endboard to sit over the edging and fit flush to the door.

Use a jigsaw to remove that little notch and glue and clamp each end board in position — it should be perfectly flush with the back of the edging….then flip the door –and drill pilot holes and drive the screws to secure the end boards.

Now – flip the door again, so you can measure and cut the backboard to fit. It’s good to have a buddy for this project because you do flip this assembly a few times. Align the backboard along the offset edging. Measure and mark to make sure the backboard is evenly aligned at both ends, then draw a center line down each end piece like this — it’s the perfect guide for driving the screws to attach the end pieces to the backboard.

Now we’re going to measure and mark for the placement of the dividers You’ll make sets of marks for each of the three dividers- on the top of the back piece, one on the face of the back piece, and at the front edge of the door. Use these marks to align each piece properly. Now you can glue, clamp, and screw each divider in place. This mark on the backside is the center point of each divider, use it as a guide for driving your screws.

Once the glue drys –flip the door so you can drive screws at the front edge. Transfer your marks up so you know where the dividers are — drill pilot holes, then drive your screws. This is the opportunity to secure the door to the back piece too. Now, flip the assembly again.

I’m gonna slide the second door in place, and attach our casters. The glue’s doing most of the work here, so don’t be stingy with it, put the block in place, then drill pilot holes and drive screws to attach the casters to the blocks. Now that it’s time to paint, you can slide the bottom off which will make it a lot easier to paint the inside.

With everything painted, attach the bottom to the rest of the assembly using glue? and screws and the daybed’s done. We attached another hollow-core door to the wall to act as a headboard. Pick your favorite bedding, tuck the daybed in, and then tuck yourself in for a well deserved rest:)

Why Planes Stopped Flying Half Full

Why Planes Stopped Flying Half Full

Airplanes may be a marvel of modern engineering, but unless you’re flying first-class it isn’t what most people would call glamorous. For many, the biggest problem is how crowded airliners can get. But believe it or not, there was a time when flights rarely left more than half full. How was this possible?

It might be hard to believe in a world where you must book your flight months in advance, but there was a time when you could simply drive to the airport on a whim and go almost anywhere you wanted. If you were lucky, you might even get the whole row to yourself!

SUMMARY:
– In the 1970s, air travel was strictly controlled by the federal government.
– The only area where airlines had nearly complete autonomy was in how many flights could depart on each route per day.
– With no way of expanding their reach or competing on pricing, airlines needed to find another way to stand out from the crowd. The solution they all came to was accessibility.
– It’s hard to make unlimited legroom sound bad, but all that extra space came at a price, and I mean that literally.
– The average price of airfare in 1979 was about $600 in today’s money. Compare that to 2015, when the average price was only about three hundred and eighty-five dollars.
– It turns out that all these extra flights were cutting into the airline’s bottom line, and they were passing that markup on to you.
– Two things brought an end to these halcyon days of ample knee space. The first came in the form of relaxed FAA regulations.
– Free from price controls and restricted routes, costs fell as airlines struggled to undercut each other’s prices.
– The second significant change was a technological one. In the analog world of the 1970s, there wasn’t a whole lot companies could do to adjust prices on the fly.
– Modern airlines have entire departments dedicated to writing the code that goes into determining the price of an individual seat.
– Airlines have also taken to adding more seats to each plane and regularly selling more tickets than they have seats.
– The side effect is that sometimes more people show up than expected, and someone ends up getting left behind.
– In the year 2000, the United States was home to ten major airlines, a number that has been slowly whittled down to just four by 2017.
– While the 70s may have been an excellent time for airline customers, all those extra flights weren’t exactly healthy for the environment.
