Bea is famous for her apple pies. She’s been baking them for over 50 years. She’s even been known to “Yankee Swap” them for flowers, tax prep, dog sitting and furnace maintenance services. Trust me. They are all getting the better end of the deal. The crust is light and flaky, the filling sweet and delicious. It’s simply the best. You must try it! I think this is the best recipe ever, that's really very very good. Thanks for sharing!
2 questions…only because this is my first time making apple pie. When she makes the pie crust, that's only enough for one pie, right? And when she puts all the ingredients on top of the apples, how do I know it's going to be spread evenly throughout the pie ? Can I mix the ingredients with the chopped apples BEFORE putting it into the pie crust?
Great recipe
You don't get anymore american than watching this sweet lady make a delicious apple pie from scratch!
I followed the recipe and failed it twice. Donβt know what happened but the crust just fell apart. π
By shortening do you mean crisco?
Thank you Bea for sharing your knowledge! I wish that I had been interested in cooking and baking when my grandmother was living. I really appreciate kind people like you willing to share a lifetime of knowledge. May be now that I am a grandfather my children and grandchildren will learn from me and pass that along. Thank you!
my heart can't handle all this warmth
A little late to this but it was a first time ever making a pie. It turned out tasty but I was wondering a few things: how should the ball of pastry dough be split for a bottom to top crust ratio? Also, what oven rack position should this bake on? Thanks so much! π
I discovered this viedeo a few years ago, and have made the crust for everything from chicken pot pie and apple pies. They always turn out perfectly! Thank you.
Hi! Can anyone tell please: vegetable shortening=Crisco?! Does the crust taste good? Thx! Love the video and absolutely adore her! Cutest granny everπ
She is like the female Mr.Rodgers π
I wish she could do it for meπππ
Please help. I made an apple pie the other day and the filling came out runny, almost like water. Can anyone tell me why? Any tips to avoid this?
Not many cooking gadgets yet most delicious pie. Now this is cooking with love. β€οΈβ€οΈ
Sheβs honestly so cute!
A question please, should i bake it with both top and bottom heat? i do both and its a little bit burned..
I have not seen the sugar and cinnamon added to top of apples. Weβ ve always put apples in bowl and mixes spices then to pie crust.
It is a great recipe, thank you!ππ€π€π€π€π€π€
I've made this today – it is delicious, however ended up with LOADS of apple juices inside the pie….why? I've used different apples than recommended in the video and I'm wondering could it be they were too juicy for the pie… Any other corrective ideas why it has happened to me? The crust came out beautiful though! π
Have you seen the video the chef making an apple pie, placing the apple slices very carefully in position like builder, every slice of apple placed in the dish individually, not sure if his apple is as good as yours. I do like apple pies but i also enjoy a damson pie too. I freeze a few pots of damsons so we can enjoy them anytime
Many thanks for good advice and when it is explained it makes very good sense, going to try a mix of the two butter and lard
This is a great video, have you heard of a Kitchen Aid mixer. I watched it right to the end, i must try it, Great Apple pie, Why didn't you use butter for making the pastry. treat yourself to a pastry brush. yes did enjoy
Vegetable shortening? Lord have mercy π
