Hey guys! I’m Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. New videos every Saturday! Today is episode 3 of my series Making Over My Childhood Home and I’m tackling the dining room! This awkward space was empty, lacking function and style. I was excited to decorate it in an eclectic, Scandi-inspired style.

  1. I need to live here! So beautiful and homey! By the way you looked beautiful in the white dress and jean jacket. ❤️

  2. This series of making over your childhood home is a delight to watch. Looking forward to the next week's final reveal.

  3. Love what you did to the dinning room.Graham you did wonderful with the barn door but you do good with what ever you do good job. Can't wait to see it till the end so I could see your parents reaction good work you guys love your channel ❤

  4. I love it! But you always say you want to keep it in a budget and make inexpensive choices but still I find it all very expensive ???? €250 for a lamp. That's pretty much…

  5. This was really extra great you guys. Graham should give himself many pats on the back for that door!

  6. I need a Graham in my life ????????????! He’s incredible ❤. Love the dining room, great job Alexandra ????????

  7. Absolutely loving this series. Your design skills are beyond amazing and Graham is a god send to your team, even with the crop top ???? and I always look forward to all your videos. Much love to you all from the UK x

  8. This has been so cool to watch, can’t wait till the final makeover episode & reveal. Wish I could do something with my parents house. Love watching you and Graham working together, both so creative & funny. His shirt situation was an added bonus..LOL.

  9. Amazing job, as always MS Alexandra, I love this, and that you are doing this for your parents, what a beautiful, loving thing for your to do for them.

  10. It is amazing the price of barn doors. Once popular, the price skyrocketed. My husband and I used an old door we found being thrown out. It had windows to let light thru so we put frosting paper on them (bathroom). It turned out beautifully. Imagination is all it takes. Just so you know, there are electrical outlets that screw into pot lights to allow you to hang a chandelier. It's like adding a lightbulb, but a chandy instead. This is quite the transformation! I love scallops too!!

  11. I think the “trough” you speak of is a dough bowl. The women in the past used them to mix the dough for bread.

  12. Beautiful room but… not one ounce of masculinity for her poor dad. Maybe he’s color blind and won’t see all the pink. Lol

  13. I called them a trough also but they are a dough bowl. ????
I love, love, love this series! I’m looking at my awkward living room dining/ kitchen.

  14. Is this too quirky… put a large down arrow on that sliding door. Or some kind of decal detail to break up that expanse without hindering the sliding door. It's definitely a great space to come back home too!
