RENOVATING A RUIN: Our Italian Dream Pool in Tuscany is Finished (Ep 41)

Finally our pool in our property here in Tuscany, Italy, is finished. This was quite an exciting week for us to finally see the lining added and the water arrive. Some of you were asking who we used for the pool. In Italy, you need to also have a separate company that digs the hole, another company of builders who manage the cement foundation, the laying of the bricks and the border. We also used a third additional company to cut custom travertine for the border. For the actual pool itself we used a company called Piscine Castiglione. They do pools all over Italy. Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use or find it using Shazam. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.

  1. Ay Kylie my first born didn’t started to sleep till his 9 month and also was colicky too. But the truth is you never sleep completely till they are gone and even then you still worry. It is a parent thing. You pool is divine

  2. I like Karens idea about the automated pool cover…I understand about baby being able to swim But as a Mom i would still be extremely worried if he wandered around the pool by himself..once they start to walk the can be gone in a blink of the eye…they are fast, curious and totally unaware..love the pool. Have you looked into antique ship furnture and perhaps folding cots like hammocks etc. The blue stripe is lovely..feels cool and the small blue stripe of the shirt you were wearing would be a great accent in pillows etc

  3. beautiful. I like the creams and teak-it seems most like your aesthetic. I also agree with Guido: 4 chaise lounges:)

  4. Congratulations on the pool getting finished, how exciting it has been!! You just need a few loungers, a few chairs and a few things that you want under your shade trees!!! Anyway I am, I love your home and all the work you’ve done inside and out!! I love the pool, it is very pretty!!

  5. Lovely video as always Kylie! My experience with rattan is it doesn't last very well, even on my covered balcony it turned grey and started falling apart after one year. Oiled teak is wonderful, you may need to oil it each year but it should last well. I think cream cushions would be lovely, darker colours tend to get too hot in the sun. Perhaps you could do the yellow or blue and white umbrellas next to the chairs?

  6. Why is this so late? Thought Saturday was your new deadline? You said last week you had already shot the footage. You are not so reliable just like the Italian workers you judge and criticize so much.

  7. Ah it does look like movie, just stunning! I love the gorgeous traditional look you are creating, it is a delight to watch it all come together.
    ????????????????????????????

  8. Absolutely gorgeous l I would go with teak loungers, cream cushions… adding more next year, matching bistro set?

  9. It’s beautiful! I really like the look of the beds you are currently using. ❤

  10. Pleeeeeese put a fence around your pool‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️????????????????????????And I reccommend using a dark color of sunbrella fabric on your cushions. I have a light color and they really get dirty❣️God bless you all❣️????????????????????????????❤️

  11. Kylie your pool is so beautiful. Growing up by the sea and around boats I can relate to your love of the water. As a mother of 4 and now grandmother of 3 I can tell you that each child is different about swimming, I had some that were like fish I couldn’t get them out of the water. I had one who had no fear and one who took two years to stop holding on to the edge of the pool, or venture into the water at the beach. I think safety is the best option here. Invest in safety first. The furniture will come soon enough. The teak with a cream sunbrella fabric will look lovely. It’s organic , I wonder what happens to all those plastic faux wicker pieces. You are both so resourceful you will make the right decision and it will look lovely.

  12. Congrats on the completion of the pool! As we say “ all things in due time”????
Now that it is open…just in time for the summer weather, finding a good safety option is key. When Gianfranco turns 1 and is walking or because he is a boy running, you want to make sure he and other kids can’t get access to the pool without you being present.
Your property is so beautiful and hopefully it will be a retreat for each generation. Who will continue to expand on what you and Guido have started! ❤

  13. We have an inground pool. Believe it or not, the most used furniture around our pool is the umbrella table with 4 matching chairs. We have couches, and other chairs, but everyone always seems to congregate around the umbrella table.

  14. I found you during Covid and I’ve been watching I was a breast-feeding mother over 29 years ago and I can totally empathize with the challenges of nursing a fussy baby though I didn’t have one It’s a monumental feat and you always want to give your baby the best you can I was a trained Leche league leader!!! Yeah just got a let it flow I don’t know how you would say that in Italian admire your film making and I was wondering have you train yourself to operated a drown to capture your different perspectives? God Bless

  15. Hi Kylie, how are you. And it’s turned out so beautiful like an oasis. I love the idea of a large swing seat or a rope style hammock . Blessings Tasha ????

  16. Not sure who told you “just get to 3 months or 6” I’ve found it so much easier when they’re over 30! ☺️????????

  17. Thank you for sharing your experiences and values, it is refreshing. While I was in Italy, I purchased some teak outdoor furniture from Ethimo, they have amazing pieces.

  18. Beautiful addition to your surroundings, looks so refreshing. May you continue to enjoy the splishy-splashes for decades to come!

  19. Wow! It's beautiful! Picture perfect ❤ What a gorgeous setting for your family! We have an inground pool for 29 years. We do have a black metal fence around it, we raised our children with the pool and now have 9 grandchildren. We keep the gate locked at all times. We can buy used wrought iron chaise loungers for reasonable price here in USA.

  20. Lovely pool and pool area! As for the pool furniture, rattan is a product of the tropics so I don't see an issue with rain. Maybe they were concerned more with the cushions? Teak is an excellent option as well.

  21. We have both the wrought iron lounge chairs and a plastic "rattan" conversation seating group and the wrought iron has lasted decades. The plastic "rattan" seating group was affordable but is pretty torn up from the weather and the sun after 5 years. This will be the last year we can use them. But the wrought iron lounge chairs will probably last a lifetime. Every 10 years buy or make new cushions. BTW we love your pool! Good choice!!
