Sharpening Jig Set-Up for Bowl Gouges

I read an article in the AAW magazine, by Kirk DeHeer “Sharpening Demystified,” Volume 21 Issue 4, Pages 32–34, it is very informative. With this information in hand, I was able to set up my sharpening jigs to give me consistent grinds on my bowl gouges, it makes it almost foolproof.
The video shows how I use the jigs, if you want the info on how to make them, please get hold of a copy of the magazine.

  4. Thanks for such a helpful video. I got a copy of the article you reference by contacting Craft Supplies USA in Provo, Utah where the author works.

  5. I just wanted to say, that I show myself sharpening for a long time, in reality, I only sharpen for a few seconds, just to touch up the grind, not for the extended time I show on the second gouge (3/8").

    Cheers!
