12 Home Decor DIY’s & Thrift Flips for an Extreme Basement Makeover

In this video I make 12 decor DIY’s and furniture flips in preparation of an extreme basement makeover. These projects include circle shelves made from hula hoops, a hanging coffee center with basket for K cups, a cement-looking bumpy lamp using beads from a thrifted abacus, a hanging plant inside a glass vase/terrarium, a side table made from a TV tray and basket tray, an upcycled Pier One side table, a refreshed thrifted office chair, a refinished coat rack, an upcycled bar stool, an updated wall sconce, street address decor books, and vintage textbook illustration wall art.

  1. It is heartbreaking to hear about yet another senseless mass shooting. Highland Park is just a few hours from me. It could have happened in my hometown or yours. Let’s all pray for those families that lost a loved one while attending a parade in celebration of our country. Let’s also pray for an end to the gun violence that is not what our founding fathers intended when they gave us a right to bear arms. 🙏

  2. Sherry, the vase with the driftwood and hanging plant is so beautiful. I just love it! It's so nice that both your boy's will be living in the same place. I'm sure you will be painting the paneling to brighten it up. I've seen all in one toaster oven, air fryer, and I forget what else that would keep him set up and down stairs. I don't think I saw the bathroom or closet.

  3. Hi, I just love that table you made over and all that storage it has as well looks great

  4. So looking forward to watching your son's new home take on your cozy comfy style. I love love love the lamp towards the end of the video. As always thank you for a great "film".

  5. Loved the lamp! It turned out really cool! Can’t wait to see the reveal! I’m interested especially in seeing the kitchen area when you’re done!

  6. Sherry…thank you for all the great ideas. I love the lamp and the Pier 1 table.

  7. Sherry,
If someone told me that you were going to decorate my home I would be so excited! I would hand you what I had and you would have full reign no questions asked! Just beautiful as always!🥰🌹🦋☺️

  8. I will definitely be praying for the victims and their families as well as the whole community. So senseless..
Sherry, your son is very lucky!! He has a super crafty mom with a good eye! Those are all beautiful items! ❤️

  9. I think you should get him one of those disgusting free chairs on FB Marketplace that have stains that nobody needs to know what they’re from. Then you need to take an X-ACTO knife and carve out a hole in the arm upholstery of the chair and PRESTO a built in cup holder! Classy, huh?! Apparently, that’s what my husband and his roommates did to their furniture in their college apartment. My MIL told me it was disgusting and she was actually terrified to be in the apartment too long in fear something may scurry across the floor. Thank goodness I didn’t know him then and his tastes improved expediently by the time I came on the scene. You’re way too wonderful of a mom to leave your son with that kind of scene. I was impressed from the hula hoop shelves to the very last creation. You’re son is one lucky guy! ~ Linda

  12. Dear Sherry. Thanks for your video again. And what a big project you have to do! I am very excited to see how the basement turns out. My boys are 14 and 17. So I guess they will still live at home quiet a while. But its never too early to look for ideas. I wish you a great and succesful week and send you greetings from Germany again.

  14. They all came out awesome. I can’t wait to see what you do with the open shelves in the kitchen.

  15. The basket table turned out incredible….. I'm going to keep an eye out for Tv tray tables……Thank you!!

  16. I enjoyed the pieces you are putting together for your son and the basement. I’m looking forward to see how it turns out. The small kitchenette I would imagine could be the most challenging.

  17. Hi Sherry, can't wait for the kitchen make over, maybe a small rolling cart for an island!

  18. Cant wait to see what you come up with, My suggestion would be to find a nice rug it looks so cold down a rug would warm up the space.

  19. Just wondering about water access in the basement. Will there be a kitchen sink or a bathroom with a toilet and shower?

  20. Thank you for you wonderful tip ideas , I love all of them everything came sou beautiful .🥰
