Turn heat up to medium high then add the rest of your milk, and sugar continue whisking. Cook until the back of a spoon stays coated/covered once you insert it and lift it back out. Once desired thickness is achieved turn burner off and add lemon and vanilla flavoring. Layer wafers and bananas in pan/dish starting with the wafers. Pour pudding on after each layer of cookies and bananas until full.
Then set aside and make frosting. Place egg whites in bowl and start beating on high with mixer. Once it begins to turn white and starts to stiffen. Put in 1/8 tsp. Cream of Tartar and start to add 1 tbsp. sugar a little at a time and beat for a few minutes until very stiff. Cover pudding/bananas/ wafers with egg whites. Put in 375 degree oven for 15 or 20 minutes or until meringue browns. Remove from oven and let set/stand for 15 or 20 minutes then serve.

So excited to make this. My husband loves it. When you cook the egg whites for the 15 or 20 minutes, does that assure that they are cooked thoroughly with no chance of getting sick? We never used to have to worry about it, but thought I would ask. It looks so delicious! Thank you so much!

I MADE THIS RECIPE YESTERDAY AND WHEN I TELL YOU IT WAS THE BOMB, BABY MY CRAZY STEP DAUGHTER WENT ON FACEBOOK LIVE AND TALKED ABOUT THIS BANANA PUDDING FOR 30 MINS !!!! THIS NUT SAID JESUS CAME DOWN AND MADE THIS ….LOL

TJ Tampa says:

Thanks, nicely done. You showed me where I messed up. I was taught using a fork.. . but no – no, use a whisk! haha And the instructions I had added the eggs at the wrong time! All so important. Cooking is like using computers and smart phones… easy if you know how. But if you don't know which key to press you are at a stand still. And with cooking, the type of pan matters, changes of temperature matter, sometimes brands matter, "when" at what point you add the ingredients, and just on and on. Love to learn new hints and techniques! Happy Thanksgiving! 💛🌿🍁
