My "Ultimate Chocolate Cake" is beyond moist. You could LITERALLY leave out it on the counter for several days and it would still be luscious. The surprise favorite for me on this cake were the cacao nibs. For those of you who have not been exposed to these little delights, they're pure, unprocessed chocolate aka they're very crunchy and chocolatey (not sweet at all). They contrast with the buttercream nicely and prevent the cake from cloying.
I've made this cake many times and filmed on two separate occasions. So you might notice that I bake a 6 inch cake but decorate an eight inch one. I often love to make a smaller cake make a batch of cupcakes with the extra batter. Just to be clear though the recipe makes 3 nice eight inch cake layers!

How to make eggless cake?
Does anyone know if I use a combo of cake flour and self-rising instead of just all-purpose, if there is a difference in bake temp or time?
dear preppy, i've tried this recipe n it was amazing! Anw, is it possible if i can make a vanilla cake out of the same recipe? (i mean like omitting the coffee n chocolate powder, adding the vanilla for flavour, then using the same amount for rest of the ingredients).

Sour cream means – yougut or fresh cream
Can I replace sour cream with thick yoghurt as it's not easily available

I made this cake for my husband's birthday. It is literately the best cake I ever tasted. My husband doesn't really like cake and sweet things and for the first time in the 15 years we've been together he went for a second helping of cake. He didn't even want me to throw away the cake I cut off the sides before I decorated it. Everyone who came for coffee and cake also had more than one helping.
So yes, this really is the best (chocolate) cake ever. (Ps. I decorated with dark chocolate ganache).
