Southern Goodness at it’s best. Meso’s famous best ever Southern Banana Pudding and there’s no way to make really fabulous Banana Pudding except Southern style, of course! Recipe below:

Meso’s Southern Banana Pudding
2 Box Vanilla Wafers
10 Very Ripe Bananas
1 Stick Butter
4 Cups Milk (any)
2 Cups Sugar + ΒΌ cup (for meringue)
4 Eggs (separated)
ΒΌ tsp. Cream of Tartar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp. Lemon Flavoring
1 tsp. Butter Flavoring
1/8 tsp. Allspice
4 tbsp. flour (any kind)

Slice very ripe bananas and layer bananas and Vanilla Wafers in an oven safe dish. Make pudding by melting butter, milk and sugar on medium heat. Use some of milk mixture to dissolve the flour and whisk till smooth. Add allspice and flavorings and cook on medium high till thick and bubbly 10 till 12 minutes as shown on video. Pour over banana/cookie layers and poke holes so pudding gets through to bottom. Make meringue by beating the egg whites, cream of tartar and sugar together until very stiff, then put on top of bananas/cookies/pudding. Bake at 350 (pre-heated oven) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

People try to argue me in the ground and banana puddings didn't go in the oven. I'm 45 years old and when I was little my mama made her banana pudding and her cheesecake in the oven they had to be baked. THATS CALLED FROM SCRATCH COOKING πŸ™ŒπŸΌI never understood being out the box stored in the refrigerator and you can eat it.

Martin Ray says:

Teresa Basinger says:

Don't think I'd like allspice, and lemon flavoring in mine. Neither of my grandmothers, nor my mom, used/uses those 2 ingredients in theirs, and neither do I. As you stated, we pour pudding over each layer, ending with wafers on top and the final covering of pudding. My husband and sons don't like meringue, so I crumble a few wafers on top for decoration.

Miz Norris says:
