  1. You shouldn't stuff the insulation in like that. It eliminates the R-Value. Use canned spray foam designed for doors and windows. Low expansion closed cell foam. (e.g. Great Stuff, blue can)

  2. Lowe's employees here – I always tell my customers to lift the weatherstripping away from the jamb and put your pilot holes and screws through the jamb there. Nothing to fill, nothing to sand, nothing to paint, no one will ever see it, but more importantly if for any reason the door needs to come back off, you know exactly where those anchor screws are and don't have to dig out filler to get to them. Most DIYers won't have this Pro's skillset, and doors are expensive.

  3. That pink paint on the door it looks awesome! But the music throughout the whole video was insanely annoying!

  4. There's another Lowe's video that shows a new product called paint. With it you can keep your perfectly good front door by applying the paint to it. It takes a quart of trim paint, brush, roller, tape, screwdriver and a teenager. Supplies cost about $75 total and it takes about an hour. Teenager is free if it resides in the house.

  5. Good video. I have installed a few doors in my life but I have always had someone there to help. It's possible to install yourself but it's great to have an extra hand to keep things square and level.

  6. what did he use to fill the countersunk screws? It looks like he just left them exposed.

  7. I need the video for the 50 year old house that was built by morons on a slab so nothing is remotely square.

  8. I used this to install a new front door on my 120 year old, definitely not level house and it worked great. Every project is going to be a little different. Saying you cant do this because the frame isnt level is a cop out. That is why you check and adjust the level all the way through the process. Have faith in yourselves. You can do this.

  9. Everyone check the specs for your door Install. Flashing tape is usually required. Order of operations matters. I'd you have a failure in the jamb/threshold connection they will NOT warrant it. Ideally the sill pan should be blueskined/flashing taped.

Each manufacturer is different. Requirements are different and let me tell you they are there for a reason.

  10. Good BUT why no (GRACE) water barrier wrap on the HOUSE DOOR OPENING? Anyone? Thanks!
