Where bodyweight training equals beast training – http://athleanx.com/x/endtheinsanity
People that say you can’t build muscle with bodyweight exercises are either not using the right exercises or are using the wrong bodyweight workout. In this video, I’ll show you 5 of the biggest mistakes you can make with bodyweight training and exercises and more importantly, how you can fix them.
In order for a bodyweight exercise to be effective at building muscle it has to be able to create an overload on the muscles that are being worked. All too often, people will do insanity or other body weight exercises for high reps and get nothing more than a good burn out of them. That said, in order to put on muscle mass you need to follow the principle of muscle overload. Just like when using equipment and weights, you need to push yourself both to and through failure.
Also, people often think that the only way to put on muscle is by using weights for resistance. That is simply not true. In fact, your muscles do not know whether you are using barbells, dumbbells, cables, bands or just your own bodyweight. All they know is resistance! Bodyweight is resistance, and used properly can be way more than an adequate stimulus for building muscle.
Next, guys forget that the amount of work done in a bodyweight workout is determined by the weight that you are using and the distance that it moves! Realizing that your bodyweight won’t change during a workout, the only thing you can do to make the exercise harder is to make the distance longer. You can do this through things like one and a half reps, as shown in this video.
You can also put on more muscle with bodyweight exercises and workouts by eliminating the momentum from your movements. By simply pausing at the bottom of each rep, you force your muscles to have to generate all the force required to move your own bodyweight without relying on the elastic momentum you would normally get through weighted exercises.
As you can see, it’s definitely possible to build muscle with bodyweight workouts and exercises. In this video, I just showed you how to build muscle with bodyweight exercises that you can now apply to any of the best body weight exercises. Do you find that your muscular development is sometimes not that symmetrical or equal between your right and left sides? It’s not an all too uncommon thing and there are lots of potential reasons for it. Does it mean that you have to start working out completely differently in order to overcome any strength or size discrepancy? Not at all.
With this quick tip you can instantly start improving the all important mind to muscle link that is crucial for getting not only a muscle to grow, but more importantly, to grow at the same rate and strength level as the one on the opposite side.
Using the dumbbells that you’re already using, you can simply mix and match the weight you are using for a given exercise. For example with the dumbbell biceps curl or hammer curl, if you normally use 35 lbs for the lift, you can hold a 35 lb dumbbell in one hand and a 25 or 20lb dumbbell in the other. The key here is to move the weights at the same speed!
This will force you to accelerate the heavier dumbbell and slow down the lighter one. This will improve your concentration on the lift and be able to finally activate muscle groups that you were most likely ignoring due to the compensation of a stronger side all along.

The toes to bar ab exercise is a staple for building a solid six pack, if you actually do it the right way. Performing this exercise for efficiency only is likely to leave your abs wishing you thought differently about what the purpose of our workout really should be.
In this video, I show you the right and wrong way to perform the toes to bar exercise. While it’s not a toes to bar tutorial, it does show you that changing your mindset from one of flailing your way towards an unrealistic number of reps towards concentrating on doing quality reps can have a huge impact on your ab development.
If you want to consider this an abs challenge then you are going to have to perform the exercise in a way that actually works your abs. Kipping your way to the top of a rep is going to involve enormous momentum and hip flexor activation with very little to no abdominal engagement. Done in this fashion, you turn one of the best ab exercises into one of the worst ab exercises.
Hanging ab exercises can truly be the hardest ways to work your abs, and therefore belong in any advanced ab workout. Finding ways to cheat the difficulty in the name of efficiency however is not going to do you any favors in the long run. When training, your goal should be to develop efficiency only through getting stronger, more stabile and powerful in the muscles that are actually intended to provide the strength, stability and power.
In the case of the toes to bar exercise and how to do it correctly, you are going to want to get those abs workout from start to finish. Stop worrying about counting to 100, and instead concentrate on counting only your high quality reps. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll be by doing this.

If you are running low on workout motivation, this video will likely change that for you in just a few minutes. I want to introduce you to Brendan O’doherty. Like you, he is an avid watcher of my videos and a young man who was on top of the world in terms of his career, his life and his health. That is until his world was rocked by a diagnosis of testicular cancer.
Brendan had surgery to remove the cancerous testicle in 2014 and remained cancer free for a year, only to have it reappear a year later and this time in a much more aggressive form. Following 6 months of chemotherapy, he was given more bad news that the tumors were not responding and that in fact, another different kind of cancer had developed next to his spine that made it nearly impossible for him to walk.
Through it all, Brendan made no excuses. Why? He has every right to. What happened to him is devastating and simply not fair. That said, instead of agreeing with my sentiments, he chose to look at it as something much different. An opportunity to look deep inside and challenge himself to overcome this and beat it like any other obstacle in life he had faced before.
Watching the ATHLEAN-X videos gave him inspiration. They gave him a goal to point towards that he could say “I’ll be doing that as soon as I beat this”. He shared these thoughts in an email with me and it simply stopped me in my tracks. First of all, to be any factor at all in this man’s recovery is a humbling honor and one that I honestly cannot understand. That said, I relish the responsibility that brings and it makes me strive to give nothing but my best in every video I release.
As I read his email and became astounded by his courage, I felt as if I had no other choice but to do what I knew I had to do. I called him. Here is a compilation of some of what transpired between Brendan and I on our phone call. I was so touched by his story and bravery that I asked him if it would be ok to capture our call on video so that I might share his story with our millions of viewers to hopefully help someone else out there that may have felt despair when faced with a similar circumstance (or if someone in their family had).
No, there’s no workout in this video. It’s not about sharing the best way to bench press or my favorite leg exercise. This is merely a video that shook me to my core that I felt could be far more impactful than any great exercise or workout could be. The ATHLEAN-X channel is all about putting the science back in strength, but I will always be touched by the actual people that watch me and the stories they share.

We’re almost wired to avoid failure. Why? Because it threatens our sense of belonging.
Let me explain…
When you ‘fail’ at something, you’re often not even that concerned about the ‘failing’ part, and instead entirely concerned with these things:
What will other people think of me?
What if they think I’m dumb?
What if they think I’m a fool?
What if it ruins my reputation?
It’s all outwardly focussed… ego-driven…
Quite simply, it’s because we take ‘failure’ as a form of social rejection…
And rejection hurts!
But if you allow your fear of failure to hold you back, it’ll keep you stuck.
It’ll keep you frustrated & stagnant.
It’ll keep you WISHING you could live the life you dream of, while convincing you that you’re not capable of it.
In my latest video I share some of the most common reasons why you might fear failure, why that fear is is trying to protect you and keep you safe (it’s true!), and powerful mindset shifts to work through it so it doesn’t hold you back.

พื้นที่แรก อำเภอบ้านแพ้ว จังหวัดสมุทรสาคร แหล่งผลิตมะพร้าวน้ำหอมที่สำคัญของบ้านเราซึ่งถือเป็น “ดินแห่งแห่งมะพร้าวน้ำหอม” ที่มีพื้นที่ปลูกมะพร้าวน้ำหอมมากถึง 13,000 กว่าไร่ ทำให้เกิดอาชีพมากมายโดยเฉพาะอาชีพ “คนตัดมะพร้าวน้ำหอม” อย่างเช่น เบียร์และน้าเชิด โดยมีแค่ไม้ไผ่และมีดก็สามารถจะทำอาชีพนี้ได้ รู้จักวิธีการขนย้ายโดย “การล่องมะพร้าว” เป็นการลากมะพร้าวด้วยเชือกไนล่อนผูกกับทะลายมะพร้าว แล้วลากตามร่องสวน โดยคนลากมะพร้าวก็จะลงไปยืนอยู่ในร่องสวน เพื่อเอามะพร้าวไปขึ้นรถเพื่อส่งไปสู่ตลาด
ไปต่อกันที่ บ้านโคกไทร ตำบลคลองเฉลิม อำเภอกงหรา จังหวัดพัทลุง ที่นี่มีผู้ชายที่ชื่อ “ส่อแหละ” และทีมงานอีก 2 คน ที่รับจ้างปีนมะพร้าวและหมากไปทั่วพื้นที่ของ จ.พัทลุง และภาคใต้ตอนล่าง โดยออกจากบ้านด้วยรถกระบะ เพื่อตระเวนไปถามระหว่างทางว่าใครจะให้ขึ้นต้นมะพร้าวบ้าง เมื่อเจอก็คุยกันตกลงกันได้ ก็ขึ้นต้นเก็บสอยมะพร้าว ซึ่งอุปกรณ์มีเพียงมีดและผ้าที่เป็นสายรัด แม้ทั้งสองพื้นที่จะมีความแตกต่าง แต่จะเห็นได้ว่ายังคงวิถีเรื่องราวของการเกื้อหนุนพึ่งพาในกระบวนการ ก่อให้เกิดอาชีพและรายได้ซึ่งกันและกัน

Most home ab workouts are enough to sizzle your core and make you squirm wishing for it to be over. The mistake is, that is when most people stop doing their ab workouts. If you want to truly blitz your abs you have to be willing to take your discomfort to the next level. In this ab workout finisher, I show you how to push through failure using a series of wall plant planks to convince yourself not just how much you had left in the tank, but how much more torture your abs could have taken before you called it a day.
To start, perform whatever ab workout you are planning for the day. We have hundreds of ab workout videos available here on our channel and unlimited ab workouts via our six pack shuffle feature in our ATHLEAN-X program. Once you complete your workout, immediately proceed to a wall in your house that you can place your feet on. Might help if you take off your shoes so you are not ruining the walls during this ab workout finisher.
Begin by planting your feet firmly against the wall and assuming a plank position on your forearms. Try and keep your low back flat and your butt down. You do not want to arch your lower back, as this is an indicator of weak abs. Start by performing 10 cross knee planks without letting your knees hit the floor. As soon as you are done with these, attempt to hold a static version of this wall plant plank for 30 seconds. Again, you want to be sure that you don’t allow your knees to touch the ground.
If you survive this portion of the finisher, move immediately onto the next part which is the toe touch planks. Here, you will cross your leg straight under your body and attempt to touch down on the floor. It is important to know that while your toe is allowed to touch the ground, your knees are once again not allowed to. See if you can perform 10 straight to each side and then follow it up with another 30 second plank hold.
If you again last through this core torture you will move onto the final leg of this home ab workout sizzler. Once again, with your feet planted against the wall move into jumping jack planks. Attempt to complete 10 reps with your feet hopping out and in against the wall. As soon as you are through with these, try and hold that wall plant plank one last time for 30 seconds. Likely, your abs will be screaming and your knees will want to come crashing to the ground. Don’t let them, at least not if you want to build some seriously strong abs.
